At Trent Lock, we take pride in maintaining a high standard of professionalism and respect for the game of golf. To ensure a pleasant experience for all members and guests, we kindly ask you to follow our dress code, course etiquette, and care guidelines outlined below.

Dress Code

Proper golfing attire is mandatory for all members and guests while on the course. Please adhere to the following:

  • Prohibited Clothing:
    • Denim jeans
    • Trainers
    • Collarless (non-golfing) t-shirts
    • Football socks
    • Cargo shorts
  • Required Attire:
    • Shirts must have collars and remain tucked in at all times.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. If the dress code is not followed, you may be asked to leave the course.

On-Course Etiquette

We are strong advocates of “Ready Golf,” as outlined by the R&A. All players, including members, guests, and visitors, are expected to observe these guidelines:

  • Ready Golf Practices:
    • Play your shot if the person with the honour is not ready.
    • Shorter hitters should play first if longer hitters must wait.
    • Assist other players only after playing your shot.
    • Be prepared to putt when it’s your turn and putt out when possible.
    • Respect others’ putting lines and leave your trolley/buggy at the exit point of the green.
    • Mark your scores after leaving the green or while waiting at the next tee.
  • Health & Safety:
Always proceed with safety in mind, ensuring awareness of your surroundings.

Lost Ball Protocol

  • If you suspect your ball is lost (outside a water hazard or out of bounds), play a provisional ball.
  • Signal the group behind to play through if the ball is not easily found. Only continue play after they have passed and are out of range.
  • Group Responsibility:
    • Keep pace with the group ahead.
    • If your group falls a clear hole behind, invite the group behind to play through, regardless of its size.
    • Note: A single player is considered a group.

For additional information, refer to the R&A’s overview on Pace of Play and Ready Golf.

Care for the Course

To maintain the course’s excellent condition, we kindly request all players to:

  • Replace divots.
  • Repair all pitch marks on greens.
  • Rake bunkers and leave rakes inside the bunker.
  • Avoid practice swings on the tees.
  • Stick to designated paths and walking areas.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to upholding the standards of Trent Lock Golf and Country Club. By following these guidelines, we can ensure a positive experience for everyone on the course.
