We’re excited to share some positive progress on the course as we head into the quieter winter months – work that will deliver smoother, faster and healthier greens for the 2026 season.

Micro-tining of the greens is now underway

You may have already noticed the team out on the greens over the past week. Following the recent purchase of a brand-new Greentek Dyna-Corer – widely regarded as the leading machine of its type and trusted by many of the country’s finest golf courses – we have begun an intensive micro-tining programme.

These ultra-fine tines remove a tiny core without disturbing the surface, dramatically improving air and water movement in the top profile while relieving compaction. The result? Firmer, truer putting surfaces and better disease resistance next year. The work is quick, the disruption is minimal, and the long-term benefits are significant.

Focus on the 4th green

The 4th has been our priority this autumn. It’s lying a little lower than we’d like, so the team is giving it extra attention to raise the level – Kevin and the team are staring work in the coming days, we will look to orientate so play can continue.

New bunker coming to the right of the 1st green

Later this winter we will be constructing a new bunker to the right of the 1st fairway. This will add strategic interest and will tidy up an area which has been problematic not only with the unpredictable lye of the ball but also an eyesore for most. The bunker will be built in the classic Trent Lock style with revetted faces and should be in play within a few weeks.

We appreciate your patience while this essential (and exciting!) work takes place. The course remains fully open during the micro-tining, and any temporary local rules will be clearly posted.

The greenkeeping team are genuinely thrilled with the new equipment and the opportunity to raise standards even higher. We can’t wait for you to experience the results next season.

All the best,

Otis Dyke
