After 30+ years Trent Lock Golf & Country Club has now got a new management team in place as part of a restructuring and minority share buyout. The new MD has a fresh, modern and community led approach taking the Club to the next level.
Over the last 6 months the existing team on and off the course have done a fantastic job of making improvements and supporting plans to make the club better – The next 24 months will see further plans for substantial investment into the facilities – which will include much-needed improvements to the Driving Range, Adventure Golf and modernisation of the Clubhouse décor.
In addition we will be looking to add indoor Golf Simulation, Darts Lanes, onsite accommodation and Padel Tennis Courts, which is part of a strategy to keep up with growing trends and broadening our demographics.
As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing your experience, we want to assure all members and visitors that operations will continue as normal. Our goal is to maintain the club’s high standards while introducing a carefully planned schedule of works aimed at improving both the course and the facilities.
Many of you may have already seen me around, as I’ve had the pleasure of meeting with several committee members regularly. I am eager to build stronger relationships with all of you, and I look forward to working closely with the community to ensure that Trent Lock remains a welcoming and enjoyable destination for golfers and members alike.
We’re excited for the future and the improvements we have in store. Stay tuned for further updates, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.
Together, we’ll make Trent Lock Golf & Country Club even better than before!
Sincerely,

Otis Dyke
Managing Director
Trent Lock Golf & Country Club

Hello Otis
Welcome to your new post at Trent Lock as managing director. I trust your plans will come to fruition.
One concern I have, and it’s put me and I know others off playing golf at Trent Lock. Recently the method of having to book and pay in advance on line has been introduced instead of paying and playing. I don’t know why this has been introduced but it definitely has put me off coming to Trent Lock to play my golf.
Is it possible to revert to the previous method of payment, please.
Hi Frank,
Thank you I appreciate it. I completely understand what you are saying and that’s the last thing we want.
From a management point of view it makes things easier to book through the online booking system and payment secures your tee time, however you do still have the option if you call and book over the phone you can pay when you arrive or If you turn up on the day you pay and play.
The only issue is that when the tee times are busy you may not get on when you want. Have you thought about becoming a member?
All the best,
Otis
Hi Otis! Exciting plans really looking forward to the growth of the club. Since I rejoined in Jan after taking time off to focus on my new born (hopefully she’ll be a member when she’s a bit older) the course has been in terrific condition and the greens the best I’ve ever seen in the 7 years I’ve been here. For me and I know others my only issue is a few bunkers being so short of sand (I know we should avoid hitting into bunkers but it happens) that can really wreck a score card in those important competitions especially the second hole bunker in front of the green. I’m sure all
Members would appreciate a tad more sand.
All the best
Ps if you need a photographer in the future happy to give members rates
Hi Otis, My 5 day membership on the 9 hole course is due for renewal this week. I paid £589 last Friday. I see it’s advertised at £550. Will I get a refund. Best wishes, Dave Nichol.
Hi Dave, sorry you are right it was a mistake. Thanks
We play the 9 hole course every week without fail and really enjoy it..its one of the nicest 9 holes around..good luck for the future
Thanks Peter, I look forward to seeing you at the Club
I will second what my golfmate Peter Rafferty said, it’s a great 9 hole course. Best of luck.
Hello Otis
Thank you for sharing your views on how you see the club moving forward and outlining the proposed improvements and new facilities .
I am not a member of the club but play regularly with my two friends on an add hock basis depending on course conditions. We share Trent Lock with another golf club near by, just to get some course variation.
All three of us share the same views with regard to the club :
We do not like the two tier fee system, ie cheaper if booking on line, we feel that this is disrespectful
We feel the 9 hole course tees and greens are not up to standard, especially when the club has had all winter and spring to sort them out.
Having said that we feel the course a wonderful place to play golf.
The persons at the point of contact, ie the desk, are always very courteous and helpful.
With regard to the Darts Lanes and Padel Tennis Courts we hope these facilities will not impact on the parking at the club, the spaces are quite limited at times.
It is always good to see a club moving forward with new ideas but there is an old saying ‘ don’t fix it, if it isn’t broken’ . There are, I’m sure, a lot of golfers who like the club as it is, I and my friends being three !
We will continue to play at Trent Lock for the foreseeable future and look forward to seeing what comes next at the club.
Kind regards
Ian Hughes
Hi Ian,
I agree with your feeling around the difference in price, moving forward we will have the same pricing online bookings and in the Clubhouse on a pay to play basis and honour any rates (usually promotional) if seen advertised by one of our partners online, that way you don’t miss out.
I’m glad that you enjoy playing at the club, certainly the green keeing team have done a great job of getting the course into a fantastic condition (probably some of the best greens in the area) hopefully myself and the team can make some good improvements and maintain value for money.
All the best,
Otis
Hi Otis,
I just wanted to wish you the best in taking the club forward – I can see improvements already!
We play regularly, several times a week on the 9 hole. I notice on the web site it states that handicaps are possible by submitting cards from the 9 hole course. Is this now possible?
Hi Mike,
Thank you it’s much appreciated – all being well we can make more noticible improvements. Also it’s great to hear from frequent players too. The best thing to do re handicaps is to email your details over to: enquiries @ trentlockgolf.com and your request can be forwarded to the handicap secretary as to the necassary steps to gain your handicap. All the best Otis
